Super Snoopy Snackie Sunday: Snackiversary....
First of all, Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. Please be sure to eat wads of food and candy for me, okay? Anyway, not only is this a very important day for the spiritual side of me but it's also an important moment in Snackie Sunday history. That's right...today Snackie Sunday turns one! It's been a year since my last confession...erm, I mean since I started Snackie Sunday. I was digging back in the archives earlier today and have no idea how I came up with a year's worth of questions! Well, today I rest on my laurels. Since it's Jesus' special resurrection day, I'll just keep with that theme.
It's time for.....

WHAT FASHION TREND FROM PAST DECADES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE BROUGHT BACK IN STYLE, NO MATTER HOW HIDEOUS?
I mentioned this on Twitter the other day but I really miss banana clips. Go ahead, laugh at me...but if I could bring back any fashion trends, they would all be about hair accessories. You have no idea how thrilled I am that big chunky headbands are back in style. These days we are so limited with what we can use on our hair and still be "cool" that I'd love to see a world filled with scrunchies, banana clips and those big lace bows like Madonna wore. Yeah that's right...I'll admit it. I may not be caught dead in them at present moment but if I had to bring anything back? Yeah, that would be it!
Reester Bunny Kisses,
Me
ETA: This just in....many thanks to Fab for sending me a BOX FULL of Cadbury Eggs! There are creme eggs, caramel eggs and orange creme eggs. Pardon me while I enjoy a sugar coma later toay!

happy easter, pretty lady! hope your day is wonderful.
if i had a banana clip i would so wear it just to help kickstart your trend. (i never really care about fashion so i would throw myself in front of the banana clip buf for you)

I still have banana clips, people still wear them here (though they look a bit fancier.)
I just kinda had fun in the 80's... wearing 6 pairs of neon socks at the same time, etc. ;)

I'd like to bring back the pastel t-shirts and linen jackets of "Miami Vice." I rocked that look.
Posted by: Karl | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 04:14 AM
For once I really don't know... although many still wear them, I do love my Doc Martens. I miss baggy clothing like the big sweatshirts from the 80s. (Oh and I love scrunchies. Love them.) Is now the time for my speech about leggings and why it is we insist on fashions that make us look like children?

I loved banana clips - but my hair was always too thick for the damn things! I would bring those back in heavy duty variety.

Fedoras. Men in fedoras are HOT.
Posted by: Stacey | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 05:50 AM
I realize that the two styles I like, the mod fashions of the 60's and the flapper girls, are all about being stick thin. So I need to re-evaluate.
I am definitely not in favor of the return to the 80's. Plastic earrings, lopsided hair, neon clothing. I saw a lady at Red Robin the other day rocking an 80's do. Shaved on the bottom in the back, super blunt, and longer on one side than the other... and all I could think was thank god that's over.
I had a pair of fluevogs that I wished they still made.

I have been shaving my chest hair for year to make it grow long and think, and i now have a pony tail of chest hair hanging off each nipple, at the end is a banana clip.

Baggy cropped shirts. I had a baggy cropped at the waist MTV sweatshirt. Gawd, I loved that thing. I still have a pic of me in tight jeans and a baggy cropped sweater and boots, sitting on the trunk of my Cad convertible. The hair is 80's bad, but the sweater rocked!

The big shoulder pads--they really do balance out a butt *giggling*
I still have banana clips---I also still have my big hoop earrings and a few other 80s accessories ;-)

you are so right about the banana clip. that is a hair accessory that really worked well with my hair type. I miss it.
I would like to have clunky platform shoes back. I enjoy being tall without the pain and clumsiness of heels.
Posted by: Jodi | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 10:42 AM
Oh GOD yes on the platform type shoes. In the mid-late 90's I loved rocking those big clunky platform black sandals, boots and loafers!

I miss banana clips too. I want skinny pants. No boot cut jeans. I forget what they are called. Pencil pants? They are cut close around the ankle

I never could get banana clips to stay right in my hair, but I love scrunchies! I'd love to see those come back. I do still wear them in the privacy of my own home because they're way easier on my hair than the elastic bands.
I loved button-fly 501's. I don't care what anyone says about Wranglers, 501's are the best ass jeans around!
I also liked the long silky blazers that had a different color lining that showed when you rolled up your sleeves. And polo shirts with popped collars, those were great too!

Afros, Jewfros and every other kind of fro under the sun.

Polo shirts are totally back... love them with a pair of jeans and keds
Posted by: Tori | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 11:39 AM
Oooh Keds! And Vans..although they already did come back in style.
Posted by: Hilly | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 11:51 AM
I'd love to see hot pink and punk hair back in fashion. How about those mohawks? I never mastered the eggwhite in hair thing the first around... ;)
Posted by: CuriosityKiller | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 11:58 AM
OMG...I want to wear all of my 100 black rubber bracelets, my fluffy, curly hair wrapped up in a big headband-like-bow, a can of spray paint, an expensive car and I want to sing "Borderline".
Can I have a belt with a buckle that says "Boytoy" too?
Posted by: Lisa | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 01:36 PM
I loved my parachute pants. Parachute pants, a japanese-style tanktop and a white headband with the red rising sun symbol in front.
Basically I was The Karate Kid when I was growing up.

I will get killed for this but...nylons. I know they are evil but they 1. Make my legs look better 2. Keep me warm and 3. I hate the feeling of bare feet in shoes.
Posted by: Suebob | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 02:10 PM
I'm totally with Stacey about the fedoras. Hawt. I love men in hats. And ties. I wish men wore ties more. As for chicks, if it were fashionable I'd totally rock the housecoat.
I'm just saying.

I would like big hair to come back—not the straight-up bangs, but big, fluffy hair—only because I have thick naturally curly hair and having to straighten it to unfluff it takes a lot of time.
Posted by: Robin | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 05:53 PM
Do you remember those plastic rings that we used to knot up the one corner of the shirt? That was hot. Also crimped hair - I rocked that hardcore!
Posted by: Bre | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 07:08 PM
awww, big lace bows like Madonna. I wore one of those every single day in grade 6.
Posted by: suze | Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 07:26 PM
LOL. I love how clunky platforms were mentioned. I have been saving mine for their eventual comeback. Because I love those shoes.
But what would I like back? Shorter skirts. Back in the 1980s, I proclaimed that when I get to be in my 60s, I want to have a face like Lena Horne and the legs of Tina Turner. Well, my legs still look good. And I don't have much boobage so one has to go with one's strengths.
Oh, and scrunchies are still my friends. Lisa is also right about button-fly 501's. Everyone's ass looked good in those.
And from my Madonna days, I'd like to bring back all that rhinestone jewelry I used to wear. Hell. It might even inspire me to wear earrings on a regular basis. And if I did that, I might even wear makeup once more on a regular basis.

A proper thank you would have been a video post of you licking some of that creme off your bosoms...

I am with you on clips and big headbands! I found a great site, www.andreasbeau, for any of you who long to re-institute the headband look. Their selection of headbands and other hair ornaments is awesome. May this trend live long!

I'm late... I'm always late. Happy Snackiversary!
Seriously? I'm so old that it has all come around again and again... and again. ;)

I like where Karl was going with the menswear, but for the ladies, I'd like to bring back all the bold geometric Esprit clothing. I had this black and white checkerboard overshirt that had kelly green satin under the collar, blue satin under one cuff, and orange satin under another cuff, and I wore it over a yellow mock turtleneck with a red mini skirt... YOWZA! Fun.
