I’m So Yours For The Taking….

Hey!  Didya hear?  Didya see?  Didya know?  It’s Blog Reader Appreciation Week and although I am two days late and about fifty dollars short, I’m here to appreciate the hell out of each and every one of you, over and over again.  Sure, I’ll be spent by the end of the week but as we all know, there’s no pleasure without a little pain.  In any case, I first learned about Blog Reader Appreciation Week from the ever so swankalicious Shiny (who is actually doing some really fun stuff all week long).  Also, I later noticed that a couple other people had joined in on the action and quite honestly just could not be left out…so here we are!

Blog Reader Appreciation Week

For the next week (well until Saturday because I’m not giving you my all, ironically), I’ll be showing my appreciation to all of you, my readers.  Some of you are lurkers, some readers who pass by once and again, some regular commenters and blog friends for years, and others who have wormed their way into my everyday life and have become my dearest friends.  No matter how long we’ve known each other or how well we know each other, I am here to tell you that ALL of you matter.  Without each and every one of you, this would just be Hilly’s Blog, not the wonder that is Snackie’s World because hi….a “world” needs a diversity of cool people running around and shit.

So my first offering to you this week is a peek inside of who I really am and/or what I really do.  I am letting you all ask me any fucking question you want and I will answer them right here on my blog!  Your question can be something as small as “Gee Hilly, what toothpaste do you think is just swell?” to something large like, “What keeps you awake at night?“.  You can also go the non-personal route and ask me a “how to” question like “How do I add a banner to my site?” or “What is the secret to driving like a maniac?“.  My point is that no question is too big or too small!  And because this is all about you and your creepy curiosity (heh), I will answer you directly, not cryptically.  I must add a disclaimer that anything inflammatory or rude will neither be tolerated nor answered (oooh, Snarky Hilly!).  Also?  There’s an extra special treat to this “Question Quest”!  The question that I like the best will make you the winner of a $25.00 Amazon Gift Certificate come week’s end!  I may also give a runner up prize for most creative question but don’t break your back trying to be cute…just be yourself!

So go ahead and sock it to me…ask any question of me that you want!  If you have more than one, you can ask them but please let me know which is your “priority question” because I will answer that first (in the comments section) then come back and answer the others when I’ve given everyone a shot.  And please, no one think their question will be stupid…trust me, I’d suck at this hardcore!  Besides, if you don’t play along, I look like an asstard and no one wants that, right?

    Now that you’re on Wordpress, what stat tracker do you use? When I upgraded to my new template I seemed to have lost any stat tracking but the ones that come with Wordpress which really aren’t that detailed. What are you using to see who is stalking you?

    Sizzle: Great question! As you know, I’m a bit psychotic about the stat tracking. So it may not surprise you to know that I have WordPress Stats installed and still have my SiteMeter installed on this new blog (even though I rarely look at it.).

    The big new thing for WordPress blogs is Woopra and I think you should run, not walk, to their site and get it. It takes a few weeks to be approved but my GOD, you will never look at stat tracking the same again! It’s all encompassing…my favorite features are the Refer Tracking and of course the “Live Visitor” tracking which allows you to even open up a chat with people currently on your site!

    Vahid: Erm…um…*bats eyes*…I thought you’d never ask. Just make sure you hire us a limo with a fully stocked bar ;) .

    Kilax: I’m not a big fan of the toe-sock….when they were popular back in the 70’s/80’s, I could never get them to stay on my feet correctly. Plus, in this climate, I’m not really a sock person anyway :). I’ll be back to answer your others too!

    Lady Jaye: I’ve always viewed the World Peace the same weight I view weight loss….it wouldn’t happen overnight but if everyone would just keep at it, slowly but surely, there’d be a lot of progress made over time. The problem is that fucking chocolate cake that keeps setting everybody back to square one.

    diane: Most of my good friends all have a few basic traits in common (and darn you for making me think today!)…honesty (don’t care what you’ve done, just don’t lie to me about it), loyalty (won’t run away at the first sign of something they don’t like), being who you are, and oddly enough…a great sense of humor. I can’t have a friend without a sense of humor because then my sarcasm would just seem….bitchy. ;)

    SJ: Karl’s not keen on extramarital activity. So dump Brent Bret, and you may just have a shot. Ahem.

    Thanks to Karl, I started using google reader instead of visiting each site every day… but ever since you switched from wordpress to typepad (or was it typepad to wordpress?) I can’t get your posts to show up in my reader. WHY???

    Lisa: Oh man, there is a LOT I am not doing right now. My whole life is in a holding pattern….so I guess my answer would be more broad. I’d take myself off pause, stop waiting for the moment to be perfect so that I can be happy, and just let go. I keep saying that life is too short to be miserable and that I like to leap rather than look but honestly, I keep hitting pause dammit.

    Tracy: Well now you’ve made me feel all special with James Lipton here by my side! My three fave technological inventions, besides my sweet sweet computer and internet are:

    1. Tivo - this needs no explanation.
    2. The GPS in my car - I get lost, especially since moving to Southern California. This little device is a life saver for me!
    3. Cell phones - because texting almost makes me as hot as the Internet does ;) .

    Jess: Those questions actually go together better than you might think :). You see the answer to “who is your hero?” is “my Dad”. As you know, he went from being a practicing alcoholic who was always in trouble to a really amazing man and I admire him so much. The best advice I’ve ever given is the same thing that my Dad had to teach me several times…the definition of insanity. I’m often the one that steps into a situation and offers the hard fact with my hugs ;) . So I always try to advise people to change their approaches in life if they want a different and better result.

    Tori: Sheesh, this one is actually tough because I hold dear to almost every romantic/caring/touching thing that anyone has ever done. I will have to say the thing I recently remember is when I had that horrible stomach virus over New Years while Shawn was away in Seattle. Despite whatever troubles we’d been having, he called up one of his friends to come bring me Pedialyte and Immodium. I just thought it was sweet that he took care of me from all the way up there.

    Laurel: First of all, long time no see! The first question would really depend…does the person I love want to take the money and move with me? If so then I’d do it..hey, I could pay to have people come visit me. And the second question…no, I do not want to know. Fear stifles me and I’d probably be more paralyzed than alive knowing the date of my own death.

    Nat: Hilly is to Tori Amos. Unless it has to be a dude…does it have to be a dude?

    Dragon: Favorite childhood memory has to be the first time I went to Disneyland with my family. You may not know this about me yet, but I am a freak for Disneyland. Anyway, it was just one of the last times that we were all seemingly happy and together. My ultimate comfort food right now is a tri-tip dip, deep fried zucchini and chocolate motherlode cake from Claim Jumper (it changes all of the time with me!) and uhhh…you most certainly ARE my favorite dragon!

    Student Teacher: Ever since I got these lovely pills (Trazodone), I don’t do insomnia anymore. Before that though, it was usually fear that kept me awake…fear of things to come, fear of what was to become of my life, fear that I’d screwed it all up. But yanno…lately I have let go of that shit, thankfully.

    Tracy: Great question and wow, what a deep one. I think the way that I sort of come to terms with this duality inside of me *is* by sharing it here on my blog. I think the only way that I can stop feeling like that fat, worthless little girl is admit when I *am* feeling like that. There seems to be a strength in Snackiepoo that Hilly doesn’t always have. I know I sound like a freak when I say that but you know what I mean, I am sure.

    Maybe it’s meeting a lot of fellow bloggers as well. When people would say that they loved or admired me on a white background, it was harder to believe than when they knew what I really was in person and still felt that way.

    The funny thing is that strong Hilly who is loved and admired by few (not a blog goddess, silly!) has actually taken over the other one right now. So, I guess I keep writing hoping that others will enjoy but I really do write a lot more for myself these days…mostly. ;)

    So the question. The question that permeates everyone’s consciousness and is found scribbled on walls everywhere. It stabs through the misty fog of nothingness that surrounds everyday life and brings a single clarifying focus, a solitary purpose of being for those who seek the answer. We live to find the answer. We must gain insight. We must know.

    Goran: I always was excellent with creative writing in school but it was also always a self-taught thing. I’m just lucky that I can see the world in different colors and that I’ll let things come out in a way that’s maybe odd to some, but pretty to me :). I think making up words is all about the kid in me, but who knows!
