July 27th, 2008
It’s no secret that I was at DaveDiego last night and it’s also no secret that thanks to Vahid, I was also slightly drunk. Since we were at a bar called “Whiskey Girl“, I decided that I’d go ahead and yanno…drink whiskey. What was the drink of choice? Whiskey Sours! The funny thing is that I’ve changed my “signature drink” quite a bit lately. I mean, it used to be that you’d see me going up to a bar and you’d know that I’d come away with a Lemon Drop, no doubt about it. I’ve been changing booze lately like I’ve been changing panties so yanno, let’s just get my booze whore status up to a whole new level by using it as Snackie Sunday’s latest and greatest!.
Before I do though, I have to say that DaveDiego was a blasty blast! I know that there are pictures trickling in slowly but surely (since most sane people are either asleep or at ComicCon) so I will post links to them later this week! I do have to say that Dave was, as always, a generous host as well as a drunken little funbag. Also, let me swoon over this one more time…Vahid actually took off his shirt so that Motley could wear it when she got really cold. Yeah yeah, he had another shirt on underneath but still…it is hard to find men so debonair in this day and age! I think we all had a really great time last night, booze or no booze. Even after Dave and Vahid turned into pumpkins and went back to their hotel room, the rest of us decided we’d hit up this local “boho” art show, which was interesting as well. At one point in time, I was sitting on a couch in the loft turned gallery, thinking to myself, “Life is good and with friends like these, you’re going to be okay no matter what rocky roads lie ahead.”. And for a moment or two, it was nice to feel loved and accepted, just the way I am. Okay wait, this just got sappy and it’s supposed to be about booze, dammit.
Let’s move on to…..
WHAT IS YOUR COCKTAIL OF CHOICE?
(or virgin cocktail if you are sober and stuff)
First of all, I just want to say that I know some of you don’t drink. You can still tell me what your favorite non alcoholic drink is if you want to. I am an equal opportunity question asker, don’t ya know? Moving on…as I mentioned before, I was a Lemon Drop whore for a long long time. Somehow I switched to being all about margaritas earlier this year. However, there is one drink that I ALWAYS come back to, no matter how ghetto it may be. I love the simplicity of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and a little bit of fruit punch. Of course, I generally only drink that at *home* so I guess I’m still searching for a new drink that i can guzzle down at a bar. Hrm, maybe I will go back to Amaretto Sours for awhile? Or maybe….I might just get an idea from one of your cute asses!

it looks like you had so much fun! i’d be jealous if i were the jealous type
i’ll drink pretty much anything, but this summer i’ve been guzzling vodka sodas as though my life depended on it. i’m finding them very refreshing in all this heat.
July 27th, 2008 at 10:17 am
I don’t really like the taste of most alcohol, so I generally go with Caesars…

kat: You and I? We should get along famously. I don’t do jealousy either AND drink guzzling is a great hobby.
Princess: Uh, they are going to take away my “whore card”. I have no idea what a Caesars is!
July 27th, 2008 at 10:22 am
First… if someone offers to buy me a drink… I’ll usually take a shot. I have a variety of shots that I LOVE!
but if it’s just happy hour and we’re meeting for a cocktail, either Vanilla Vodka and Diet Cola or Spiced Rum & Diet Cola.
Also… if the bartender is slammed or grouchy… I’ll just say “captain & diet”…. easy and safe…
July 27th, 2008 at 10:28 am
There are so many that it is hard to pick just one, but if I had to pick a top 3…
1. Hendrick’s Gin Gibson (martini with cocktail onions), up and not so dry. Yum!
2. Bloody Maria (tequila instead of vodka) with Don Julio Silver.
3. Horse’s Neck. This one is a little strange. Bourbon (I like Maker’s Mark), ginger beer (or ginger ale if the spicier ginger beer is not available) and a few dashes of bitters. Tall cocktail glass with plenty of ice. Holla!
Oh, and a Caesar is similar to a Bloody Mary but generally using Clamato juice.

In the old days when I drank a lot, it was either Cuba Libres or Jack and Coke. These days, a single margy with salt suffices. Altho, I really really enjoyed the Jack and Coke I got when Vahid bought a round. YUM.

I don’t drink much…I would rather waste the calories on dessert. BUT, if I DO get a drink, I get something fruity and tropical with rum in it.
If it’s cold I love a mocha coffee with amaretto in it. Yum…
Glad you had a good time with Dave2 and all the other fun bloggers.

For a cocktail: Anything tequila, followed by Midori sours to bring me back down. (My younger cousin taught me about the Midori sours…)
My drink of choice is beer.
But I rarely drink.
I’ll pick a Coke over alcohol most of the time.

Wow! Dave Diego sounds like it was uberfun! Kind of makes me wish we had these types of things in the Davestrict of Columbia…
I don’t drink much alcohol nowadays. When I do, it’s usually beer. But on occassion I like anything which mixes any type of alcohol with cranberry juice. I don’t know what it is, specifically — the color? The Vitamin C? Who knows…
Embarassing Shiny Fact: I used to really like Zima.

i love lemon drops, too. i also like a good white russian, but they’re quite sweet and so i only have them here and there. they also have to be made with heavy whipping cream (just a splash), not regular milk or even half and half.
another fab drink i make is with top shelf voddy (Effen, Goose) and fresh squeezed orange juice (as in, i squeeze it myself — about a half cup?) and the juice of half a lemon, plus a splash of Cointreau or triple sec. a sugar rim is nice. all ingredients should be ice, ice cold. i don’t know what to call it, i just make it when i want something cool and refreshing in the summer. they go down sweet and easy, baby.

I switch it up sometimes with Kettle and Cranberry.
And always mix in a few shots of Jagermiester.
Oh, and I have never lost my panties, but I have sacrificed quite a few bras over the years.

Otherwise coffee or sparkling water with a bit of lemonade.

However, I discovered Pomegranate Martinis and fell in love.
I’m also a straight tequila girl. Love me some Patron silver - chilled. Shots or on the rocks. Just give me the tequila and I’ll be happy LOL
And my old standard of just beer. Amstel Light, Rolling Rock, Molson Ice, etc.

Sounds like you had a great time…something you deserve with everything else going on.
Now that I’m a recently retired drinker, that’s right, no more alcohol for this gal, I have a few drinks I used to enjoy.
My “signature” drink will always be a dirty vodka martini with five olives. God, how I loved my martinis.
My “Saturday night, hang out with Dude” drink used be Captain Morgan and Diet Coke.
Now I’m all about spring water and green smoothies…oye.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had any alcohol in about 4-1/2 years but when I did drink I either went with a Purple Hooter shot (or more than a shot) or the old Margarita standby.

Beer: Smithwicks.
But you know, sometimes I drink other stuff.

The old standby for me is probably a vodka tonic with extra lime. I like gin and tonic as well, but it has to be Bombay Saphire Gin.
Lately I’ve started drinking cosmos and pomegranate martinis. CPK has a really good grape cosmo - I love the frozen grapes it comes with!
A friend of mine and I stumbled on a wine tasting at the grand opening of Total Wine yesterday. I found a few new wines that I like and actually bought a few bottles.

I don’t drink all that much anymore, but when I do go out for a cocktail, I’m most likely to have a whiskey sour or a margarita. I love, love, love mojitos, but it’s hard to get a good one around here, so I make them at home.
I also made a kick-ass “white sangria” tonight that may become my new favorite party drink…it’s really easy to throw together for a crowd.

I started on rum and cokes. Then went on to vodka and tea (ice tea). After a while I was bored with that and was on a Whiskey Sour kick for a long while. But then I was tired of the sour bit, so hello gin and tonics. Eventually though I realized I was always ready to go to sleep at 11:30. For the last several years I’ve been back to my sweet vodka and tea. Just enough caffeine so my heart doesn’t jump out of my chest and on to the bartender’s tip money. They appreciate it, and I can stay awake till closing

i am so thankful that you got the opportunity to attend the festivities! jealous as all hell, yet still happy for you.
drinks of choice depend on the night.
vodka: i am a ketel one vodka and tonic kind of girl. love me some bloody marys. but no matter what i mix with, it gotta be ketel one. tasty!
bourbon: maker’s mark, usually with ginger ale or as a manhattan
tequila: rey de copas or don julio, although patron will do. love sunrises, shots, margaritas and just about any tequila drink.
beer: smithwick’s makes me happy. franzie is devine. dekonck knows what they are doing. as does casteel. and those fuckers who make vanilla java porter are out to drown me, i swear!
while not a run drinker, i’ll slam mojitos until i can’t see straight, then have another. brand doesn’t matter to me…i couldn’t tell one from the other if i tried.
ummm, yeah. i like booze.
but my favorite drink ever is water!

Of the alcoholic beverage preference, it’s got to be a layered mudslide.
Much different than your typical mudslide. Each of the ingredients are poured into the glass as layers, meaning they sit on top of each other in the glass.
Kahlua, Bailey’s and Vodka, in that order.
All alcohol and it’s very yummy.
That’s my favorite. My main drink of choice is a gin and tonic. If I’m at a real bar, then it’s a dirty martini, extra dirty.
Cause yanno, I like it extra dirty. ;-)
