Blogger of The Month: “Light” Summer Reading

First of all, before I even begin this post I have to give a huge thank you and lots of hugs to Dickiemaxx and Jester for fixing my blog earlier today.  Apparently, my database got hacked through a plugin or something like that, but my gays had me up and running within ten minutes!  Anydiddle, if they *had not* fixed it, I would not be able to bring you the recent Blogger of the Month post and that would just suck.  You see, last month I uh…well…totally forgot to do one until the end of the month.  By then, I just thought, “Hey, why not pick someone SPECTACULAR in August and just make them the Blogger of the Month for the whole summer?!?!”.  Ladies, gentlemen and the rest of us, that is exactly what I did.

This month, I am doing things a little differently, as you probably can tell.  Well, that is…if you actually pay as much attention to my standard formatting as I do.  Eh, I’m guessing you don’t.  Anywayyyy, sheesh…I’ve tried long and hard to find favorite posts for the person who I am about to feature and the search was fruitless.  It’s not because I don’t have any favorite posts really, but more so that almost every post he writes seems to bring the world around me to a halt, if only for five minutes. Who is “he”?  Well let me tell you that much and then I will tell you what I think of his blog, m’kay?

HE is the lovely Brandon of / thepenismightier \.  I first met Brandon back in May of 2007 at TequilaCon.  I’d never even heard of him yet alone read his blog but by the time I got home and logged on, I was hooked.  There is no way that I can describe his blog without using words like “beautiful”, “moving”, “talented” and more importantly “relateable yet resonating”.  In fact, getting back to trying to find favorite posts,  I actually asked some of his close friends if they had any favorites that they though I should feature.  Clearly, I was thinking that they could do the work for me, of course!  However, their answers mirrored mine almost exactly.  My favorite blog posts by Brandon are the ones that simply resonate for me personally, touching my core and making me feel, think and dream all at the same time.  It sounds bullshitty and ethereal but seriously, read his blog then tell me that I am wrong.  I dare you.

He’s fucking fantastic.  His writing is oozing with talent and I’m not sure why he doesn’t have gaggles of books on the shelves at a bookstore near you.  Besides that?  He is a truly genuine and humble person who actually blushed at the thought of receiving this award.  Seriously dude, I should be bowing down to YOU right now.  If his blog isn’t enough to suck you in, check out his photography as well.  I mean, hi…does he sweat talent or what?  Exactly.  At the bottom of this post,  I will throw up a couple of links that Mister Sexypants sent to me, but please tool around his blog and see what brings you to life.  Since he doesn’t really have an archive system, I suggest just subscribing in your feed reader (do it) and going back from there.

So again, congratulations to Brandon, who’s not only makes my heart swoon just a little bit this summer, but every time I read his powerfully beautiful words.  The prize, while not exciting, is yours for the taking, mister!  Please pass GO and collect your badge.  Also, in my dreams?  One day, you’ll guest post for me, causing a rosey glow on my pages.

    also, i seem to remember that i said i would guest post for you a while back and then dropped off the face of the planet. i feel doubly horrible now after your compliments. i am going to allow myself to step off the wagon just this once to numb the shame.

    One of the best blogs on the entire internet. And yes, that’s including mine! Brandon could put his writing in a book and sell it… but he gives it to us for free on the blogosphere. How great is that?

    As if all that wasn’t enough, the bastard is a really nice guy too. I hate him for that.

    This is awesome! A while back someone mentioned this blog, but something shiny must have distracted me, because I could not for the life of me remember the name of it.
    When I saw it here something in the far depths of my brain said “I think that’s it!”
    And it was!
    I am so happy!
    It’s now in my reader and favorites so it’ll never be lost again. Excellent choice!

    Such a well-deserved blogger of the month! Reading Brandon’s work makes me actually wish I could use 15% of my brain to truly appreciate his full talent.

    On top of his brains, lovely hair and sharp wit, he also has the most extensive knowledge of 80’s love ballads I’ve ever witnessed.

    But as for being humble, clearly you’ve never lost to him at pinball, because he *totally* gloats, as you can see in this photo.
