The RAP Sheet Awards Are Back!

Blogging was made for bitching.

Whether it’s about slow drivers, unruly children, or spouses who can’t seem to pick up their own underwear, the blogosphere is constantly atwitter with our gripes. And while we would in no way suggest you stop bitching, once in a while it’s nice to stop and remember some of those people who makes us forget about the dirty underwear.

It is because of those people that Sugarpanties, Britt and I decided to launch The RAP Sheet.

Out here in Blogaritaville, there are some Ridiculously Awesome People. People who touch us, who make us laugh, who make us want to reward them with a cutesy graphic. Those are the people we add to The RAP Sheet.   Although we flaked on giving this award throughout most of this year, we’re back and better than ever!  Also, I happen to know that Miss Sam is already playing along!  (read through to the to see how you can play along too)

My RAP Sheet Award recipient is so fucking ridiculously awesome that it hurts!  I’ve actually hung out with this person a few times, although I wasn’t the coolest chick the first time that I did.  You see, I met him at a grand event where I was very self-conscious about my weight and meeting other bloggers for the first time (gee, what’s new?).  When I later got to know him well and apologized for hardly talking to him the first time we met, I told him that I’d been shy.  He guffawed a little and even when I protested, he probably still did not think that “shy” was a word used to describe me.  And yet, he conceded and let me simmer in my delusions.  The truth of the matter is that I was partially shy because he was cute and quiet.  I’m not used to cute and quiet.  Most of my friends are extremely ummm… verbose.

In any case, since that first trip to Portland, I was hooked on the feeling that is Vahid (you may know him as Iron Fist).  He’s just…nice.  I know that in every other circumstance, the word “nice” could be a cop-out…something to say when you have no other descriptive word that fit the bill.  However, when I use that word, it means that I am flabbergasted by the kindness in someone’s heart.  Geez, I hope I’m not ruining his rep here.  Anyway, I think I told the story before but it is important to say this once again to illustrate my point about debonair dudes in our midst.  The last time I hung out with Vahid at DaveDiego, he unbuttoned his shirt (he had an undershirt on, thanks), took it off, then gave it to Motley because she was shivering.  Who does that anymore?  Vahid does, apparently…proving that chivalry is not dead.

Besides all of that swoony stuff, there are other reasons you should know him.  He’s helpful!  When my computer went completely fucking haywire, he was right there to try to help me fix it.  He’s smart!  Just go read his blog and you’ll see what I mean.  He’s talented!  That man can take better pictures with his cell phone than I can with a Nikon.  He’s feisty!  I like having witty banter with Vahid…he keeps me on my toes.  He’s fun!  Hey, he actually lets me call him Mister Sexypants.  Apparently, he’s a pinball wizard!  I could go on and on and on but uh, yanno…I’ll give others a chance to say something nice about him.

Right now, I should be *in* Portland, hanging out with Vahid!  However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to reschedule and I’m obviously not in the midst of his awesomeness.  I think I’ll go make a paper chain to count down to the new visit date.  Le sigh.

So Sexypants, here’s the swizzle…take this award and wear it around your neck.  Or yanno, put it on your blog!

    everyone knows vahid is a gentleman and ridiculously awesome. but what they don’t know is that he taught me upskirt photography three years ago, which also makes him a saint.

    What I think is coolest about Vahid is he’s completely unaware of his awesomeness! Every time I compliment him on his photos, he’s so surprised, like “What, my little snapshots?!?!”

    I wish I’d talked more to him at Dave Diego, but I was too shy. He seems like a truly nice guy, though.

    His photo appears next to nice and awesome, so I think you got the description right on.

    Ridiculous had a picture of the CiC, but I think we can give him that one.

    Ever hear of keeping a good thing on the down-low, Hilly? You know Vahid is the best. I know Vahid is the best. But now EVERYONE will know he’s the best, and what if there’s not enough of him to go around?! Now we have to start rationing Vahid? It’s like Panic in Needle Park all over again. Just great. ;)
