I have no idea how I ended up on an Astrology site yesterday afternoon. I’m guessing that it had something to do with clicking something that I shouldn’t have (thanks Facebook) and then not being able to look away. There were not only daily horoscopes but all of these fascinating * different kinds* of horoscopes to choose from. I spent a good hour telling the website all of my intimate details then another two hours wondering how each version of my horoscope was so different. I guess it’s sort of like religion in that you pick just one and stick with it, even though the others intrigue you? Oh wait, it’s not like I do *that* either. In any case, I was intrigued for a bit however it ended when the next shiny thing caught my eye.
It’s time for…

1. WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY (I keep a calendar for ecards!)
2. WHAT’S YOUR SIGN, BABY?
3. DO YOU EVEN BELIEVE IN ASTROLOGY?
You have no idea how many times people have asked what my sign is after meeting me. When I say “Scorpio”, they say “ahhhh, no wonder!” as if they were looking for an explanation for my antics! All joking aside, I’ve always thought that the basic astrological qualities and associations of Scorpios completely go hand in hand with who I am. Let’s take a look at what Wikipedia has to say about the basic traits of a Scorpio…
Associated Traits
intense, powerful, determined/tenacious/preserving, emotional/sensitive, calm but seething, reserved/withdrawn, secretive, deep/profound, passionate/sexual, loyal, ambitious, extreme, willful, mysterious/magnetic, deeply resentful/brooding/potentially destructive.
Attributes
Likes (totally me): activity, mysteries, secrets, winning, being acknowledged, strategy.
Dislikes (totally not me): being analyzed, being asked personal questions, people who think they know more than Scorpios do, too many compliments, having to trust a stranger.
Now then, as far as my Daily Horoscope goes? I don’t believe it nor do I read it. In high school and my early 20’s, I was the exact opposite. Man oh man, I would read that thing every day and look for the sign just to prove that it was all true. Besides, they are all so generic. Today’s horoscope said:
“It’s a good time for taking risks with money or emotions. You aren’t able to control yourself anyway typically, so you may as well go all-in! It might not pay off, but the ride is worth the admission price!”
You see? That’s not really telling me anything that someone else couldn’t tell me and also? It’s a common Scorpio trait to take risk with their emotions anyway! Pffft.
Oh and my birthday? That I forgot to add on the original post? November 4th…Election Day!

March 24th, making me an Aries. I have never found traditional astrology to be even remotely accurate, and don’t feel my sign defines me very well. However, the Cinese zodiac is eerily accurate, and my “Fire Horse” sign nails me pretty good. Don’t know that this makes me believe in it, but it is interesting.

November 13th, so I’m a scorpio also. The attributes you have listed here describe me pretty well, but most of the other ones I read (like the traits) don’t. I’m not all that intense or passionate, I’m pretty mellow most of the time. I don’t follow horoscopes either, I’ve never read one that’s come true

1. Halloween
2. Scorpio
3. Not so much
My sister does charts and palms and tarot for a living, yet I’m not much of a believer. See, the dislikes in the Scorp attributes up there? Not me. I don’t care if people think they know more than others. I only care about that if they think it and act like it but it’s not true. I don’t mind being analyzed if someone’s gonna do it right. I don’t mind if people ask me personal questions. And who does like too many compliments? Cause really, where there are too many, you know someone’s bullshitting you. A lot of the associated traits aren’t me either.
However… my sister says that there are really 2 levels to being a Scorpio. She says there is the base level, the scorpion crawling on the ground. This is the person with the seething resentments and jealousies. She’s told me that Scorpions, being the intelligent sort, often can see these bad traits in themselves and begin to evolve to a higher level… the eagle who soars in the sky. (I even have this 30 year old Scorpio poster that shows the scorpion on the ground and in the air there’s some kinda big bird.) The eagle has conquered most of the negative traits and can control them within herself most of the time which then gives the person a more serene, strong demeanor.
Okay. Now I said too much and gave away Scorpio secrets. It’s my sister Jeannette’s fault. Oh, and in the Chinese astrology… I’m a rat. HEH HEH

I will read horoscopes now and then, but for the most part, I’m with you - they’re so generic and silly, I could write them!
However, there was one site that sorta shocked me with its accuracy - if I find it, I’ll email it to you! Fun when you’re doing nothing else, at least!
Wait - when is YOUR birthday?!

Dave: I will have to look into the Chinese Zodiac and see what happens there!
Amanda: Some of those traits don’t fit me either.
Winter: I think I more fit half scorpion/half eagle. I totally try to suppress the negative sides of me but sometimes they rear their ugly little heads. I mean the “dislikes” portion is not me AT ALL, but the “likes” is!
Sybil: Ack, I am a tool! November 4th! I will add it to the post.
Laci: You and I are alike in that manner!

If I stumble across some daily or weekly ones in a paper, I will totally read them, cause that’s fun. I love when there’s some eerie little cosmic coincidence, like when you open up a particularly specific fortune cookie and its message fits your life somehow. The ones in The Onion are just funny, satirizing the whole idea of astrology just as that paper satirizes everything else. Almost always at least sorta funny.

And thanks for sending me to Wikipedia to look it up….this is what it says about Aries :
Associated traits
The following traits are widely associated with this sign (and how they relate to me.
Self-confidence (working on this)
Courage (Of course)
Impatience (Very)
Impulsivity (My MIDDLE name!)
Enthusiasm (always)
Initiative (definitely)
Leadership (more than I realized)
Opinionated / stubborn (can be)
Forceful (not at all)
Irritable (hardly)
Straightforward (not enough!)

My birthday is March 21, so I am an Aries (born on the cusp of Aries/Pisces).
I’m not entirely sure I believe in astrology, but I will admit that a disturbing number of the traits associated with people born under Aries fit me: self-confident, full of enthusiasm, straightforward, courageous, impatient, irritable. And I am definitely ruled by my head, which is supposed to be an Aries trait.
One Aries trait I apparently missed that I wish I had is athleticism. Hmph.

Dave has the same birthday as my husband. I also have two close friends born on March 24. Despite being skeptical about astrology, the similarities between the three people I know born on March 24 is striking. In many ways I would say they are typical Arians. It is a bit of a joke between us all but the similarities speak for themselves.
My birthday is May 10.
I am a Taurean.
I believe a little. However, I did get a proper chart done once and it was uncanny. The woman knew everything about me. It still freaks me out when I think about it.

My birthday is December 28th making me a Capricorn.
When I was a teenager and in my twenties I read the horoscope book that came out every year in Cosmopolitan magazine and thought it hit the nail on the head.
Oh to be young again LOL.

1. December 25, but I was supposed to be born December 9.
2. Capricorn, but I’ve always felt more like a Sagittarius.
3. The idea that the blurb in the newspaper, or wherever, is suppose to apply to everyone born under the same sign, no matter who they are, where they live, what they do, etc., has never sat well with me - ie. everyone with my birthsign will find love on the 16th, really? Call me highly skeptical, but I know some people who swear by horoscopes, so whatever makes you happy!

3. No belief in astrology. People believe what they want to and it’s too easy to sway people to believe a lot of mumbo jumbo.

want some even more fun? Try astro.com. You can have a clickable chart to see what the different planets indicate personality wise. You can also put in another person’s information and do a partner chart. Lots of free horoscopes!
1. July 16
2. cancer, aries (moon) virgo (rising)
3. right or not it gives you a spring board to analyze personality. The more detailed you go into it the more right on I think the results usually are. For that you need birth time and place as well as date.
October 6th, 2008 at 11:24 am
1. June 23
2. Cancer
3. At times but rarely that generic stuff that runs in newspapers and magazines. There’s often a huge difference between individualized charts and that stuff.

April 16th, and I’m an Aries through and through.
On the surface I think astrology is nonsense, but my personality profile is so dead-on that it makes me wonder…
However, the daily horoscopes you get in the paper and whatnot? A bunch of hooey. A friend of mine once got, “You will talk much of Teddy Roosevelt today” in the paper one time. Well, she went around telling everyone her bizarre horoscope and so guess what? Many conversations about Teddy Roosevelt ensued.
