Hello my friends, we meet again….(yes, yes I *did* just sing that in my best Scott Stapp voice). Somewhere hidden behind the rows of flowers and boxes of chocolates, I sit thinking about what it means to practice self-love…and not in the yummy “bow chicka bow wow” sense of the word, thanks! When I started this two years ago (gasp), it was on a whim after someone confessed to me just how alone Pink Day (Valentine’s Day to the commoners) made her feel. And this year we are once again carrying on the tradition that spread wider than I ever thought it would when I randomly posted it a few years back. Yes, my lovelies, today is the day that we post a little something that we like about ourselves and ask others to reply with the same!
HAPPY SELF-LOVE DAY!!
Feb. 13th & 14th, 2009
Here’s how the whole thing works:
1.) You’re gonna grab yourself a banner. If you don’t like the one I’ve used in this post, you can find another one here.
2.) You’re gonna post that banner and then tell us all something that you really like
love about yourself (thus, the “self-love” portion of our program).3.) Ask or beg your readers to post one thing that they too love about you!!! If your blog friends are nice, you shouldn’t have to beg…much.
4.) Enjoy yourself and spread the love by doing this on your blog! If you want to, drop me a line or a trackback so that I know you participated too!
So what do I like about myself this year? Hrmmmm, what indeed? I guess I really like the fact that I am able to take beating after beating after beating (metaphorically) and stand back up every damned time. I’m like a Chinese Proverb or yanno, a Chumbawumba song. It takes a lot of strength and courage to be able to keep fighting even when everything you do ends up in yet another battle or maybe even ten. So yeah, I really do like that about myself. On the fluff side, I love my hair…I have got some great hair.
Anyway, now it’s time for you to bring it! Tell me what you like about me! Dude, do it today because I won’t ask again until next year. Seriously, this is the one day I feel okay asking for compliments without feeling needy and desperate. Whaaaat?

Came here via Finn’s and loved this idea.
I love myself most of the times but when I don’t, I know what it must feel like to not have a reason to love yourself all the time(Oops! That was convoluted!). And for that reason I think this is a great idea!

I guess, though, if I had to choose one, it would be… (where’s the drumroll?!)…
your heart. You seem to have the best intentions and warmest heart, and I think that radiates here regardless of what you’ve posted that day.Some people ooze warmth- and I think you’re one of them. It’s a rare trait, and I definitely don’t have it! (Really, I don’t – I intimidate people, from what I’ve heard!)

Even though we briefly met in person at Adam’s, I pretty much only know you from your blog and comments that you leave on other blogs. What keeps me coming back to your blog? Thus, what do I like about you? Your writing style. Your use of cute “real world” words is impressive! You write like you talk and while that probably seems like a no brainer, it’s not. There are a ton of blogs that don’t read like the write talks in person. I’m always impressed when a blogger can write like they talk. It’s not easy.

I don’t love that you’re going through a lot of shit in your personal life.
I don’t love that there are certain factors beyond your control which stress you out that you have to roll with — which is easier said than done.
But I do admire that through all of this stuff that you’re going through — you’re pushing through and keeping your eye on the prize at the end of it all. It takes a lot of courage and endurance to do that.
And I love that while you’re doing this — you still make your friends feel like they’re the most important people in the world.

Share the love … I didn’t see my Self-Love Day post on your Google Reader Shared Items page but I’m sure you read it because you commented. I may have missed it though ’cause I lost a bunch of posts when I mistakenly hit the “mark all as read” button.” I hate when that happens.
