Snackie Sunday: Little Susie Ho-Maker…

After two weeks of camping out on my couch with the PorkChop Flu (from which I am *still* not fully recovered, btw), my house was in shambles!  I tried really hard to keep up the minor things like laundry and dishes but exerting any extra effort always made me cough and feel sicker and blah blah blah.  So, since I’m finally feeling well enough to go hang out and do stuff, I figured it was time to scrub the crap out of my house before the skankiness of it all drove me over the edge.  Saturday morning, I got out all of my cleaning supplies, rags and other apparatuses  and went to town on this bitch!  I always clean in a pattern too…I do the “wet stuff” first, like the kitchen and bathrooms.  Then, I dust, fluff and spray Febreze.  After everything else is done, I sweep, mop and vacuum.  It’s the same routine almost every time.  However, there are moments where I want to gouge my eyes out rather than do some of the chores on my list.

With that said, it’s time for...

WHAT HOUSEHOLD CHORE DO YOU LOATHE THE MOST?

Seriously…they should invent something that sweeps my floors for me because I absolutely hate it.  I feel like no matter how wonderful of a job I do sweeping, there is always some crumb or crevasse that gets overlooked and that annoys me so much.  Also?  I hate loading the dishwasher.  I don’t mind emptying it but something about washing and loading it up?  Annoying.  Lastly, I’m not all that fond of folding laundry *unless* I can do it while watching television.  In fact, I often leave laundry in the dryer for dayyyyys before remembering it is there!

You’d think having that many things annoy me about cleaning would mean that I’m a lazy ass with a dirty house but no, not so much.  I’m totally OCD about cleanliness and my house always has to smell good or else it freaks me out!  There are even some chores that I love to do but you’d laugh at me if I told you what they are.  Well maybe not but yanno, today we’re focusing on the ones we don’t like!

Swiffer Sweeper Kisses,
Me

My most hated thing is putting folded laundry AWAY. I will sometimes leave stuff in the basket until I do laundry again because it makes me so insane! Also, cleaning the catbox, but only because Meatball, being typical, will run in and use it right after I’ve cleaned it. Little fucker.

Ironing. I just can’t do it well. At all. Thus I hate it. :grr:

Probably folding laundry, because I feel there is constantly a load waiting for me. I also really hate our work clothes, because they have to be hung properly right away, otherwise they’ll wrinkle terribly, which sucks for a procrastinator like me.

Ironing. I won’t buy clothes that have to be ironed unless it’s a once-in-a-while kind of item. Weekly ironing does not happen at my house!

When I had a dishwasher, I hated unloading. I don’t mind the loading and rinsing, just the putting away.

I agree with you about the floors. In fact, I believe that the cheap linoleum in our kitchen was scientifically designed to always remain crumby.

I don’t have a dishwasher, so I’m not overly fond of dishes. Laundry I really don’t mind.

Oooo… the cat box. Hate that little chore.

Dishes. I mostly wash a dish as soon as use it because a dish that sits in the sink for more than 5 minutes is just so disgusting to me that I’d rather throw it out than wash it. In fact, a few years ago my dad was visiting and made scrabbled eggs and left the frying pan in the sink for a few hours and I actually did throw it out (while gagging like a fool).

Laundry I hate folding it and putting it away
I also hate emptying the dishwasher
the rest of the house I have cleaners for so I just have to straighten out the house and they do the cleaning.

Laundry. I’m pretty sure I buy new clothes just so I can go longer without having to do laundry.

I hate cleaning the bathroom… specifically, the toilet. Need I say more?

I loathe cleaning the toilet. I have 3 sons and my dh and we have ONE freaking bathroom. It’s like a truck stop up in here.

I also hate putting the clothes from the washer to the dryer. So I make the kids do it!

I think my least favorite household chore is cleaning out the refrigerator. I loathe it. Unfortunately, it is time. :( Happy Sunday all!

My wee apartment doesn’t have a dishwasher, but even when I’ve had one, it doesn’t help too much. I HATE dishes. I would rather scrub the toilet. Ugh.

I’m OCD about sweeping the floor, too…after I use the dustpan I get out my dustbuster and suck up the ‘dirt line’.

Apparently I hate recycling the most, considering the state of the hallway and kitchen.

  20. Blondefabulous Says:

Um…. I clean other people’s houses for a living, so most chores don’t bother me at all. Dusting however, is something that gives me the fits! I did a house Friday that was COVERED in dust at least a quarter inch thick. I am still sneezing!

I absolutely hate cleaning the shower. Everything else I don’t mind – even cleaning the toilet. I don’t love doing any of the other things, but I would do any of them before cleaning the shower. I wish I could hire someone to just in and clean my shower.

Hilly – I’m opposite of you when it comes to dishes. I don’t seem to mind putting them in the dishwasher, it’s unloading it that bothers me. They sit in there for days sometimes, like my laundry that sits in the dryer. In fact, I think I have clothes in the dryer now from last weekend…I should check.

    I’m not fond of dishes.
I LIKE to clean the bathroom.
Laundry in an apartment complex SUCKS (especially when bitchy neighbors TAKE MY LAUNDRY OUT AND SET IT ON TOP AND IT GETS WRINKLED!!!)
Not so much a “household chore” but recycling CANS and BOTTLES annoys the fuck outta me. On the flip, I like depositing other recyclables like plastics, paper, cardboard, tin… I’m totally a green nerd!

I never iron anything, so probably that. I don’t like emptying the dishwasher, but filling it is ok. We’d be great roommates. :D I hate handwashing dishes. I use to not like vacuuming, but it’s ok with some great music.

I actually don’t mind folding laundry, though I hate putting it away for some reason. Not so much hate as I don’t ever seem to get around to it, really.

Other than that…I’m not much for mopping the floors, I guess, though I can’t remember the last time I had to do it.

  27. Ginger Says:

I LOATHE mopping. Ironing isn’t my favorite thing either, but I’d rather do almost anything than mop.

  28. Sharon Says:

I hate cleaning the tub/shower. I especially hate cleaning the shower stall in our master bath because it is glass-walled and thus water-spotted immediately after just one shower, plus the surface of the floor is textured in such a way that it never really looks clean.

BTW, I saw some people mentioned ironing. We don’t do that at all at our house, don’t even own an ironing board. Anything that needs to be ironed goes to the dry cleaner.

I have the hardest time motivating myself to take the trash/recycling out. I don’t know why but eventually when my bags are close to bursting I FINALLY do it.

I don’t iron. It’s dangerous for me to use devices that you have to remember to turn off.

For me, it’s putting away laundry. I don’t mind doing laundry, and I like nice clean clothes. But dear lord does Mike have to kick my butt to get me to put it on hangers in my closet or folded nicely in drawers… I’m hoping once we get the closets redesigned and all fancy like that will inspire me to want to hang up my clothes, but I doubt it…

It’s a tie between dusting and mopping floors. With an entire house full of hard wood (TWSS), those stupid chores never end.

  36. Ren Says:

Why would you ever fold laundry without watching TV?

Actually, that’s a bone of contention between my me and my wife: she wants to focus on the folding and just get it done, while the kids and I want to do it while watching TV even though it takes five times as long.

I don’t do very many chores, but one of my least favorite must be just the basic putting things away as I seem to accumulate piles of junk everywhere. Mostly electronic detritus.

I have one word for you: Roomba. It sweeps the floor for you! Seriously. I love mine. I can sit my fat ass on the couch (or shower, or be at work) while it does it all for me.

For me the worst chore is loading and unloading the dishwasher. I don’t know why, but I hate it. I would rather stand in front of the sink and wash/dry them myself than use the dishwasher. Really. I know, I’m crazy.

Hope you are feeling better this week!

I hate folding laundry too. So does my Hubby so we usually wind up with big piles of clean clothes in our bedroom. I only like to fold in front of the tv but time doesn’t really allow for it. I come to work looking like I’ve slept in my clothes all night…I think my coworkers are starting to wonder about me.

Doing dishes. Even with a dishwasher now (which we just got installed last year) I still don’t really like doing dishes. Even more so in the winter time, which drys my hands out like crazy.

I get absolutly no joy out of cleaning. I fucking hate it, but I have to do it every single day as I hate clutter and obvious dirt. My house has people constantly dropping in, so that motivates me to keep it clean. Although, my clean is different to other peoples, like in my best friends house you could literally eat your dinner off the floor its so clean, that not me. The job I hate most of all is washing windows, I am crap at it no matter how many different ways I try it. I only ever clean the windows when they are really bad, like can’t see out of them!!

I would rather be punched in the kidney than to have to take the garbage out, empty the dishwasher or pump gas. Pumping gas isn’t really a household chore but still. I hate it.

  42. RiceWenchie Says:

Dishes & laundry, most definitely, are the two chores I dread the most. :oy: They’re time consuming, too many steps: gather, wash, transfer, dry, fold, put away. Of course, dishes don’t need to be folded so, there ya go.

I much prefer sweeping, vacuuming, dusting; things that have pretty much one step. Simplicity keeps my ADD mind happy. :ike:
