24601…
September 22nd, 2008
Thanks to Avitable, I now have something to blog about today! Here’s my *me* meme:
My favorite age: Somewhere between 30-35, when I finally grew up.
My best friend: I have many, actually. There are oldest friends, closest friends, friends whom I speak to about everything under the sun, friends who make me smile and laugh, and friends that understand me better than anyone else…and that’s not even everybody! I’d have to say that Foo is the one person I’d name if I could only name just one.
My celebrity crush: Ryan Reynolds, Tim Daly, Colin Firth, Eliza Dushku.
My defining characteristic: Why is this question the hardest? I have no idea what defines me. Is it just one thing? Bah, anyway…I’ll go with compassion.
My most evil moment: Telling my ex fiancees wife that he was cheating on her with tons of women but not because I cared about her or thought she should know rather because I wanted her to suffer.
My favorite food: Chicken tacos with lots of cheese in a fried corn tortilla. Then cupcakes.
My grossest injury: I cut the top of my right index finger off when I was in grade school. They sewed it back together but still…
My biggest hatred: Close-mindedness by people who are incapable of seeing things any way other than their own.
My most illegal activity: *Whstles*…wouldn’t you like to know!
My need for justice: Any underdog getting bullied by a group of closed-minded individuals who are as ignorant as the day is long, usually due to prejudice of any kind. This could be race, sexual orientation, gender, handicap, fatism, religious affiliation or anything else that falls under this umbrella.
My most knowledgeable field: Oddly enough, classic literature. Seriously, I know those books back and forth and have super-dissected every one of them a few times.
My life’s goal: To be honest to God happy and have the strength to change that which doesn’t lead to my happiness.
My mother’s influence: Hrm…well, my mother always had an affinity for the arts, theater and all things cultural. So yeah, she gave me my love for plays, art galleries, museums, and many more things like that.
My nerdiest point: Marrying a man that designs video games and more specifically works for Blizzard Entertainment. You may think that’s not much nerdiness on my part but yes, you learn a lot of geekery when you marry into the realm of knowing tons of people that work for game companies. I knew nothing nerdy before I married Shawn…nothing!
My oldest memory: This sounds so sad but there was a letter from my Dad that he was going away for awhile. My Mom told me that he had to work out of town for a month and I was crushed that he never said goodbye. Later in life I realized that he was actually in jail for 30 days on a DUI. D’oh!
My perfect date: The setting is not as important as the who and what. Any date where we talk and laugh until the wee hours of the morning is perfect. I often imagine a dinner out, walking around somewhere and discovering new things then settling in with drinks and nothing but the desire to know everything about each other. Of course, kissing may become involved at some point. Ahem.
My unanswered question: What about the road not taken? Would that have been better?
My random fact: I often break into song for no good reason. Lately I’ve been singing “Past The Point of No Return” to my cat.
My stupidest decision: Gee, there are so many. Realistically though, I’d have to say his name was Rudi Scortt.
My favorite television show: Of all time? Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Right now? Pushing Daisies.
My style of underwear: Boy shorts (I agree with SJ that they make even a fat ass look terrific) and high cut briefs (for those days when I just laze around).
My favorite vegetable: Artichokes. Then zucchini.
My weakest trait: I let things bother me that shouldn’t. I tend to obsess over one off-the-cuff remark that someone said to me rather than just letting it go and moving forward.
My X-men power: Telepathy. I mean, I’ve spewed about my ability to read people how many times already this year?
My strongest yearning: Fire and Rain (yes, that’s cryptic).
My moment of Zen: Every day around 2:15 pm when I get home from work, grab some vanilla chai tea and hop on the phone with a dear friend for about an hour.

Are There Three Moons Out There?
September 23rd, 2007

They say that L.A. either makes you or breaks you. Generally they’re talking about careers or something even more life-altering, however L.A. broke me in a completely different way. Welcome to my first hangover in *years*. To say that I was drunk last night would be an understatement….I seriously asked Foo and Dave on the way home if there were three moons in the air, but apparently they were just balloons at a Nissan dealership. Whatever…there *were* three moons, dammit! So somehow throughout the night, I ended up having 9-10 Lemon Drop Martinis, I think. Sure, everyone can now commence being amazed that I was not passed out in the middle of Hollywood, but I can really hold my own with the liquor.
Liquor aside, or probably part of it all, last night’s "Dave LA Blogger Meet-Up" was fan-freaking-tabulous! After picking up Foo at the airport and fiddling around all day, we finally made it up to Hollywood much later than we expected but phew…we made it! After being seated at a long table, the 10-11 of us immediately commenced with the drinking and really didn’t get to order our food until almost an hour later…so you can guess the atmosphere at that table! There were so many conversations spinning around at one time and I was sitting in a mid-point where I could hear both but could only really participate in one at a time, because I am not that damned talented. Anyway, I just remember everyone being so damned awesome and lots and lots of laughter. Dave gives good party.
Dave also gives good presents! All of us in attendance were given a lanyard, a gift certificate for a free t-shirt from the Artificial Duck Store, and bags and bags of buttons to pour though and grab for our greedy asses. Still, my favorite button was the one that Dave gave me himself just because :).

The Disneyland Adventures of Davey-Joe and Hilly-Sue!
September 21st, 2007
Argh….I was telling Dave yesterday that sometimes I will get to someone else’s blog entry right after he does and I want to kill him for making the exact same comment that I was going to make. But really today……oh how he took it to a whole other level ;). I was going to open by telling you about the sheer perfection of yesterday but he beat me to it! Of course, he actually took the time to write last night AND it’s not like we didn’t spend the whole day yesterday commenting on how the day could not be more perfect! So yeah, our day was just, wow. As Dave once said, "I don’t think I can come up with ENOUGH adjectives to describe just how amazing this day is". I told him that "wondrous" should cover it but I don’t think one adjective satisfied him that much! So I will just try to use examples to explain to you why our day was so radical, fanatical, perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible and marvelous:
1.) In part of the "perfection" category, there were absolutely NO LINES and no crowds yesterday at all. We seriously zipped in an out of rides with a 10 minute wait AT most. One of the ride operators even told us to just "sit wherever we wanted". We went on more rides yesterday than I have in my many trips to Disneyland. I even let Dave pluck my Splash Mountain cherry and we were soaked!
2.) Even though we had a little trouble with a few rides like getting stuck at the top of a drop on the Grizzly Rapids ride, having the Matterhorn break down just as we were about to get on, someone puking in the submarine we were supposed to have on Finding Nemo, we always found a way to laugh it off.
3.) Speaking of which, at the top of watery hill on the Grizzly Run, sitting for 10 minutes, somehow Dave and I came up with these personas, Davey-Joe and Hilly-Sue. We talked with these bumpkin accents and used incorrect grammar and all that. Now most normal people would have found that fun for maybe the rest of the ride. But my little freakshow Dave and I acted like that in perpetua…..even though we broke out of character when we talked about serious stuff and real life, blah blah.
4.) The weather was beautiful. The skies were blue and there was a breeze. I’ve only ever been there when it was seriously sweltering hot or raining. I think Davey-Joe brought me a happy little bag of sunshine but just did not want to admit it!
5.) We laughed so hard that Dave said I was gonna kill him and I was coughing like a maniac all day!
Finally, one of the best….no wait, *the* best part of yesterday was spending it with Dave. He and I really only met for the first time this last March and now we are the best of the best real friends, not just blogger friends….we just click. I love the fact that he is exactly like I am in so many ways. We spent so much time just talking and laughing and it was easy. Silence sometimes fell upon us, mostly once we were both exhausted, and I did not feel like I had to fill the gap with words. We look so different on paper (well blog paper) but in the real world, we are totally these goofy kids at heart who can play all day long then sit down to dinner and talk about real life and its ups and downs. He’s a good guy, that Dave, and I would definitely spend a whole day on my feet for him again in a heartbeat. I’d say more about how awesome he is but he likes his privacy and to tell you the truth, I am starting to like mine a little bit more as well.
And although we did not go on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, I totally got us lost on the way back to his hotel and while I felt so bad about it, Dave was busy playing with my in-car Navigation System so he didn’t seem to care. LOL, we seriously went in circles at 10:00 at night!
To get a different perspective on our day (speaking of us being so different on paper), go read Dave’s entry which actually has pictures of how awesome everything was! He tells it his way, I tells it mines….
One last thing, to Dave….thank you :).
Hilly-Sue O’Hara Kisses,
Me

It’s Like Choose Your Own Mystery, The Demented Version
September 19th, 2007
Today was one of the crappiest days ever. Work sucked cause everyone was somewhat pissy and I sucked cause I did not feel well. Then I got home and spent a half hour looking for my Disneyland Annual Pass and could not find it anywhere! Gah, gah, gah….they make you pay a $20.00 replacement fee (which I think is heinous by the way). Finally I had some pizza and beer and have calmed down. I can now wash my face, slink into bed, and watch my backed up Tivo! And tomorrow, instead of getting up at 5:30, I get to sleep in til 7:00! Yep, tomorrow is gonna be a great day for many reasons but mostly for one which I hope my little picture show will explain!
My question is…what do you think is the absolute worst thing that could happen when:
Time will tell!
