Blogger of The Month: “Light” Summer Reading

First of all, before I even begin this post I have to give a huge thank you and lots of hugs to Dickiemaxx and Jester for fixing my blog earlier today.  Apparently, my database got hacked through a plugin or something like that, but my gays had me up and running within ten minutes!  Anydiddle, if they *had not* fixed it, I would not be able to bring you the recent Blogger of the Month post and that would just suck.  You see, last month I uh…well…totally forgot to do one until the end of the month.  By then, I just thought, “Hey, why not pick someone SPECTACULAR in August and just make them the Blogger of the Month for the whole summer?!?!”.  Ladies, gentlemen and the rest of us, that is exactly what I did.

This month, I am doing things a little differently, as you probably can tell.  Well, that is…if you actually pay as much attention to my standard formatting as I do.  Eh, I’m guessing you don’t.  Anywayyyy, sheesh…I’ve tried long and hard to find favorite posts for the person who I am about to feature and the search was fruitless.  It’s not because I don’t have any favorite posts really, but more so that almost every post he writes seems to bring the world around me to a halt, if only for five minutes. Who is “he”?  Well let me tell you that much and then I will tell you what I think of his blog, m’kay?

HE is the lovely Brandon of / thepenismightier \.  I first met Brandon back in May of 2007 at TequilaCon.  I’d never even heard of him yet alone read his blog but by the time I got home and logged on, I was hooked.  There is no way that I can describe his blog without using words like “beautiful”, “moving”, “talented” and more importantly “relateable yet resonating”.  In fact, getting back to trying to find favorite posts,  I actually asked some of his close friends if they had any favorites that they though I should feature.  Clearly, I was thinking that they could do the work for me, of course!  However, their answers mirrored mine almost exactly.  My favorite blog posts by Brandon are the ones that simply resonate for me personally, touching my core and making me feel, think and dream all at the same time.  It sounds bullshitty and ethereal but seriously, read his blog then tell me that I am wrong.  I dare you.

He’s fucking fantastic.  His writing is oozing with talent and I’m not sure why he doesn’t have gaggles of books on the shelves at a bookstore near you.  Besides that?  He is a truly genuine and humble person who actually blushed at the thought of receiving this award.  Seriously dude, I should be bowing down to YOU right now.  If his blog isn’t enough to suck you in, check out his photography as well.  I mean, hi…does he sweat talent or what?  Exactly.  At the bottom of this post,  I will throw up a couple of links that Mister Sexypants sent to me, but please tool around his blog and see what brings you to life.  Since he doesn’t really have an archive system, I suggest just subscribing in your feed reader (do it) and going back from there.

Blogger Of The Month: June Bug….

How funny.  I was going to start my blog post off with “this person may not blog every other day, but when she does, it’s pure magic!”.  However, after carefully stalking her studying her blog in order to make this post, I realized that she *does* actually blog almost every other day (if not more) and that her stuff is so damned good that it just doesn’t *seem* like it.  The thing about this blogger is that she can turn an every day life sort of moment into a grand adventure and leave you wanting to be right there with her in her world of awesomeness.

I’m not sure why I waited this long to make this woman a Blogger of the Month.  Maybe I did not want to seem like a supreme kiss ass before TequilaCon.  Maybe it’s just because I was letting the boys play rampant in the yard.  But whatever it was, it’s time to bring the “supercool chick solidarity” back, now with minty fresh flavor.  So you may ask yourselves (or not…in fact, probably not), what makes someone Hilly’s Blogger of the Month?  Well, there are no prerequisites.  It’s either about content, design or a mixture of the two.  But this time, it’s about so much more….

Blogger Of The Month: Eat More Takeout In May!

Ironically, that subject-line is a “that’s what she said” just waiting to happen…

Anyway, hey it’s May! That means it’s time for yet another blogger to become my coveted Blogger of the Month. Just *how* coveted is definitely up for debate but let’s move on from stroking my ego, shall we? I’d like to stroke someone else’s for a change. Last month, I swore that this month’s recipient would not be a man. In fact, I was a little worried about Britt’s reputation, what with being surrounded by a bunch of hot guys. However, this certain someone caught my attention by making me laugh and truly cry all in the same month. As a result, he also made me change my mind about my own little sexist rules.

As I’ve said before, there are no prerequisites for what makes someone my Blogger of the Month. One month it could be about how well a person waxes prosaic while
another it could simply be that their layout did not bug the shit out
of me. This month I picked a person who is just good at being himself (inside and out) on his blog and truth be told, I find that refreshing.

Blogger Of The Month: April’s Fool!

Sometimes people disappear off the face of the PRB never to return again. However, others take a month or two off then suddenly come back bigger, badder and crazier than ever! Make no mistake people, this person’s BLOG is what earned him April’s Blogger of the Month award, not the fact that we’re like…butt buddies and stuff.

As I’ve said before, there are no prerequisites for what makes someone my Blogger of the
Month.
One month it could be about how well a person waxes prosaic while
another it could simply be that their layout did not bug the shit out
of me. This month I picked a person who is pimping the shit out of a new blog design and who has pushed the blogging envelope so far that I don’t know how anyone else can compete!

Blogger Of The Month: March’s Mad Hatter!

When a person guest-hosts two radio shows, has a birthday, travels all over the world and still “brings it home” in his blog entries all in one month?  Yeah, it’s that person’s turn to get featured no matter how sure I am that someone will cry “favoritism”!  You see, there has never been any doubt in my mind that this person was destined to “make it” here once this year, but my oh my (*swooning with the vapors*)….I just didn’t know it would be so soon.

As I’ve said before, there are no prerequisites for what makes someone my Blogger of the
Month.
One month it could be about how well a person waxes prosaic while
another it could simply be that their layout did not bug the shit out
of me.  This month I picked a person who has a blog design that I emulate, posts that bring in the masses every single damned day, and a milkshake that brings all the girls to the yard!

Blogger Of The Month: February Is For Bad-Ass Beyotches!

When I can learn how to properly make guacamole and have a rational discussion on why I should vote all on one blog? Yeah, I’m *so* all about that! Of course, as I was praising the awesomeness of said blog this last weekend, I thought to myself, “Self…it’s time to make this radical chick February’s Blogger of the Month!“.

Month. Once it could be about how well a person waxes prosaic while

This month, I picked a person who embodies both of those things and who rocks it with her sense of humor, has an admirable knowledge of trivia, takes a lot of shit yet still keeps smiling and basically has been so very kind and welcoming to me since I just started really getting to know her last fall.

Blogger Of The Month: The January Man!

Churros, chapstick and tater tots…oh my! It’s time for my very first Blogger of the Month award!

There are no prerequisites for what makes someone my Blogger of the Month. Once it could be about how well a person waxes prosaic while another it could simply be that their layout did not bug the shit out of me. You know, I’m kind of picky like that. Anywayyyy….this month I picked the person who consistently puts a smile on my face and almost always makes me giggle and snort. Sure, his blog is almost better because I’ve met him in person but even if I had not, I’d be riveted. The great thing about his blog is that if you know a few basic facts….like that he is a newlywed and obsesses over all things Google, then you can pretty much catch up. It’s not like some blogs where you feel sort of lost in the beginning.

Oh do you want a name maybe? Yes yes, that’s a good idea at this point in time. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you January’s Blogger of the Month: The one and only Dustin from Cotters In My Tummy. Why oh why do I love Dustin so much? Well, like I said…he is amusing as hell, and his sarcasm probably surpasses mine. He can turn a phrase with such ease that you’d think no skill was involved. In fact, I’ve often told him that he’s like the brother I never had since our erm…”snark factor” is similar. Hell, he got his “Churro Boy” nickname because he laughed at something truly awful I said, which shall stay private!
